Ingredients

  • 1 Cup lauki/bottle gourd grated
  • 1 Cup cabbage grated
  • 1/2 Cup jwar flour
  • 1 Cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 Cup sooji
  • 1/2 Cup besan/gram flour
  • 6 Garlic pods grated
  • 2 Green chili
  • 1 Tsp carrom seeds
  • 1 Tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 Tsp asafoetida
  • 1 Tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 Tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 Cup curd/yogurt
  • 1 Tsp amchur/dry mango powder OR 1 lemon juice
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 Tsp oil
  • 1 Tsp grated ginger

Tempering

  • 1 Tsp oil
  • 1 Tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 Tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves

Instructions

  • First of all in a mixing bowl combine all ingredients together and make a dough. If you find it little dry use water to make a soft dough, else no need.
  • Rub oil on your pals and divide dough in equal proportions, shape them into a cylindrical shape.
  • Grease the steamer plates and steam these cylinders for 15-20 min. Steam until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • After 20 min removes them from steamer and cools them completely. Cut these into small pieces.
  • Heat a heavy bottom pan and prepare to temper, mix all cut pieces into the pan and mix well.
  • Serve hot with green coriander chutney and enjoy.

Notes

Adding water is the main precaution here. Since cabbage and bottle gourd both contain water content, so if required add water gradually.
