Hi! Welcome to Code2Cook. I am happy that you landed here to know more about me. I am Bhawana Singh, the cook, recipe developer, food photographer, and content writer.

    How did it started

It all started in 2006 when I got married. I did not know anything about how to cook, except tea. We bought all sorts of cheese, a variety of bread loaves, frozen food for breakfast, ate lunch & dinner outside. Within six months we both were 15kg up on the weighing scale.

We got fed up with eating out. It was all full of oil and spices. We started missing home-cooked meals.

In November 2017 I finally started Code2Cook and started recording all my experiments.

What you will find in Code2Cook

Code2Cook is a vegetarian blog of recipes that I enjoyed with my family and friends. Tried my best to provide you easy to cook recipes with easily sourced local ingredients.

It is all about Vegetarian, Vegan, recipes which are tasty and easy to make. All recipes are given clear instructions with step-by-step photos. All have been tested and tried multiple times before adding them to the blog.

Many recipes that call for refined flour & refined sugar are replaced with whole wheat flour, jaggery, or cane sugar. I am trying my best to make this blog refined flour & refined sugar-free.

The deep-frying process is being converted to an air fryer or oven-baked version.

Apart from Indian cuisine, you may see international recipes as well, as I am exploring other cuisines as well.

"Soon I am starting a series to add traditional recipes from India, which I got to know from my Nani (maternal), and mother-in-law."

Many times while searching for new recipes, I came across ingredients which were either new to me or were not available in the market easily. I wanted to cook with easily available ingredients. You will find all the recipes with those ingredients, healthy yet nutritious. The recipes here are affordable, approachable, and delectable. I can’t wait to share them with you!

    My Story

I am a software professional who turned into a blogger and person behind this blog. My father was a big foodie, at times he used to cook and surprise us with all his dishes. I have learned a lot from him in terms of cooking, life, and habits. There are still a few recipes that I can not replicate the way he cooked. My love for food started then and still continued.

I am a mom of two, a son 8 11 12 years old, and a daughter 2 5 6 years old. Both love eating my preparations.

I am blessed to marry the love of my life, Pradeep Kumar who is again a great cook and foodie, my biggest critic, and a person who should get the credit for tasting my experiments and love them.

After marriage, mostly we cooked together and enjoyed every bit of it. This blog is the encouragement of his food habits and one of my friends Geetha with whom I shared everything about cooking.

I love collecting recipes from books, magazines, food columns in newspapers, fellow bloggers, food groups, cookbooks, from mom, and mom-in-law. Some experiments turned out great in taste & some are history :). while I don't cook, I love to read books, do paper crafting, read about photography. Traveling with my family and taking pics, make me feel great. Listening to music adds so much fun to it. I am a totally self-taught cook and have no formal culinary training, just tons of mess-ups in the kitchen.
