Xmas Paratha | Dry Fruit Paratha
Xmas paratha, basically a whole wheat yeast flatbread which is kneaded with dry fruits powder. Further added cheese, bell pepper, green coriander then cut into Christmas tree shape and inserted ice cream stick to hold. Xmas paratha is a fun way to feed fussy eater.
Initially, my friend Shikha told me to make Xmas paratha sort of but I did not see any paratha like this in the google search. No idea came with this “X”. After checking my fellow BMers one of the bloggers posted Xmas paratha, I wanted to go ahead with Shikha’s idea. My husband checked all posts on “X” but could not agree to make Xmas paratha which I wanted to make with dry fruits. So after a lot of discussions, he made me agree with his idea which was Christmas tree shape paratha pieces.
To make this Xmas tree paratha first I kneaded the dough with yeast, dry fruit powder(cashew & almond powder) and curd. Rested for an hour to let the yeast work on. Roasted from both sides, decorated one cooked side with cheese, bell pepper, and green coriander. Cooked it on low flame for 2-3 minutes and then cut them in Christmas tree shape. I added ice cream stick to hold the paratha pieces. So let see how to make this delicious Xmas paratha.
Xmas Paratha | Dry Fruit Paratha
Ingredient 6 Medium Size Paratha
2 Cup whole wheat flour
1/4 Cup dry fruit powder (I used almond and cashew)
1/2 Tsp baking soda
1 Tsp salt
1 Tsp active dry yeast
1/4 Cup yogurt
1 Cup warm water
2 Tblsp oil
1 Tsp sugar
Method
- First of all in a mixing bowl gather flour, dry fruit powder, baking soda. Combine nicely.
- In a bowl add yeast, sugar, and salt. Add 1/4 cup warm water and mix nicely. Cover it and keep it for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes yeast should be bubble up.
- Now add this yeast frothy water, 2 tbsp oil, yogurt in dry ingredient. You need 3/4 cup extra water to knead the dough. Knead till everything bind together nicely.
- Apply little oil on top and cover with aluminum foil. Keep it in a warm place for at least one hour. The dough will double up in an hour.
- After an hour punch the dough to release air and knead for a minute.
- Divide the dough into equal parts. I made 6 parathas with this dough. Heat a griddle on medium heat. I used a cast iron pan to make this paratha.
- Dust the rolling surface and roll into 5-6 ” circle. Transfer it to the hot griddle.
- Cook for 1 minute and then flip it over. Cook again for 1 minute. After this transfer it to a plate.
- Decorate one cooked side of this paratha with cheese, bell pepper, and green coriander. Now transfer this paratha back on the hot griddle. cook for 1-2 minute on low flame.
- After 2 minutes transfer it to a cooling rack. Cut them into 6-8 pieces in triangle shape which will be like Christmas tree shape.
- Insert an ice cream srtick and see how your little one happy to enjoy this xmas paratha.
