Ragi Rava Dosa is a quick and easy dosa recipe for breakfast, which requires no fermentation. This instant ragi rava dosa or crepe is made with ragi which is known as finger millet flour, rice flour, and semolina. Ragi rava dosa is a healthy, nutritious, quick Indian breakfast recipe. This dosa looks similar to rava dosa in texture but with different taste.
Finger millet flour is a rich source of fiber & calcium. Lowers the cholesterol level and helps in weight loss process. Consuming it keeps you full for a longer time and helps in digestion. In north India, While in Pune I got to know about ragi. This flour is a great food for kids and lactating moms. It is commonly used in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

South Indian Cuisine has a lot of dosa variety prepared in general. Almost with every flour or grain, you can make dosa. Ragi dosa I tasted in Pune at friend’s place, initially, I did not like it but adding more veggies, onions make it delicious and addictive.
This instant ragi rava dosa is very easy to make. Just mix all ingredients, adjust water as required and immediately start making dosa. No fermentation required to make this yummy dosa recipe. So let see how to make instant ragi rava dosa step by step.
Ragi Rava Dosa | Finger Millet Crepe
Ingredients 10-12 Dosa
1 Cup ragi (nachni flour or finger millet flour)
1/4 Cup rice flour
1/4 Cup semolina
1 Green chili chopped finely
Handful green coriander chopped finely
1/4 Cup chopped onion
1 Tsp ginger freshly grated
2 Cups water
1/2 Cup thick curd
Oil for cooking
For Tempering
1 Tsp oil
1/2 Tsp cumin seed
1/2 Tsp mustard seed
10-15 Curry leaves chopped finely
Method
- At first, take a mixing bowl and add ragi flour, rice flour, and semolina.
- To this add chopped onion, grated ginger, chopped chili, and curd. Add 2 cups of water and mix well. Adjust water consistency as per requirement.
- In a frying pan heat oil. Once the oil is hot enough add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Add this tempering to the mixture. Mix well and adjust salt as per taste.
- If you find the mixture too thick add 1/2 cup extra water. Heat the griddle on medium flame.
- Pour a ladleful dosa batter on the griddle. Sprinkle some oil on the top. Cook it for a minute. The flame should be low-medium at this time. Otherwise, dosa will burn.
- It takes a minute to cook from one side, flip it over to another side and cook for few seconds.
- Transfer it to a plate and serve with coconut chutney and coriander chutney. Instant ragi rava dosa is ready to serve hot.
Note
- If you find dosa batter a bit thick then add extra 1/2 cup of water. It should have a pouring consistency.
- Dosa will come out soft or crisp as per the thickness of the batter.
- Add any seasonal veggies to make it tastier.
