Peas Pulao is what I cook whenever we invite some common friends :). And I like to eat that very much with raita. Perfect combination for me. Enjoy my version too. Rice cooked with whole spices gives such a aroma and cooked peas with that is so much tasty. Do try it.

    Ingredients Sufficient For 6-8 People

2.5 Cup basmati rice (any rice of your taste)
    1 Cup peas
    2” Cinnamon stick
    3-4 Green small cardamom
    1 Medium sized onion sliced
    ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
    ¾ teaspoon salt
    Oil for cooking
    7-8 Black whole pepper
    2 Bay leaves

Method: Soak the rice for half an hour. Meanwhile make tadka/tempering. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start spluttering add bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cardamom & whole black pepper. Fry them for a minute. They should not be burnt. To this add sliced onion. Fry them till their color changes to light brown.

Add peas now and mix well.

Drain all the water from the rice and add it to masala. Stir them for 1-2 min on low flame. Doing this rice absorbs the aroma of spices.

Now add enough water and salt. Cook this until rice is cooked completely. Don’t overcook and check them time to time to make sure that its not burnt.

Add more water during cooking if it’s needed. Serve hot with any curry, chole & raita.
