Capsicum (Bell Peppers) Paratha
Onion capsicum paratha is a super easy and quick paratha recipe cooked for breakfast. They make a great brunch or dinner accompanied with curd or raita to make a complete meal in itself.

There are two ways to make this paratha, first, make the filling and then stuff in whole wheat flour dough balls. Generally, grated cheese is also added and then you can make capsicum cheese paratha.
Second just add the chopped onion and colorful bell peppers with few spices directly in the flour and then make parathas.
Carrot paratha, ajwain paratha, mint paratha, cabbage carrot paratha are such paratha recipes, mix everything in the wheat flour and make yummy paratha.

- Whole wheat flour
- Finely chopped onion
- Finely chopped bell peppers (or single color capsicum)
- Salt
- Handful chopped green coriander
- Green chili chopped finely
- Garam masala
- Carom seeds
- Water to knead the dough
How to make capsicum paratha
To make this onion capsicum paratha add finely chopped onion, finely chopped bell peppers, green coriander, green chili, garam masala, carom seed, and salt as per taste.
Knead a soft dough and roll out parathas. So let see how to make capsicum paratha at home, step by step.
- Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Really rub nicely everything in the flour. Salt will help bell peppers to release water.
- Slowly add water and start making a dough. You will need less than 1/2 cup of water to make it. Onion or capsicum keep scattering but do not worry just stick them back.
- Divide the dough into equal portions. I could make 6 medium size parathas.
- Heat a griddle on medium flame. Dust the surface and roll a dough ball into 4-5″ circle.
- Place it on the griddle. Apply oil and cook from both sides until golden brown.
- Capsicum paratha is ready to serve with pickle or chutney or curd.
Serving & Storing ideas
Capsicum parathas go very well with curd, or pickle, or just a cup of masala chai.
Boondi raita, carrot raita, cucumber tomato raita & lauki raita are a yogurt-based accompaniment to go well along with parathas.

These parathas are best when served hot. Crispy, caramelized capsicum & onion taste so much better. Having said that you can store them for 24 hours at room temperature.

Onion paratha is my favorite paratha, but never added capsicum in it. I’m sure it must be tastier and more flavorsome than onion paratha. Next time will add capsicum to my onion paratha

This method of adding the onions and capsicum in the dough itself is easier than the stuffing one. I love onion in parathas, but haven’t tried adding capsicum. Must be a very flavorful one.
Our Sindhi Masala Koki is almost the same – just a little thicker and some more fat :(( , but it’s a great idea to make parathas which will consume lesser oil . Excellent parathas ! I simply live the onion in these .
