My son always demands different snacks or breakfast items, which is sometimes difficult to handle with my little one who is 2.5 years old.
So I keep looking for ideas to make something quick with some help from my son.
This summer vacation my husband made a dinner menu with my son, that for a month both of them will cook.
It was really a beautiful time spent as a family as my son eagerly waited for dinner time.
Though it was a simple Nutella bread sandwich or helping chef but smile on my son’s face was just awesome.
Kid Chef Junior by Anjali Shah
The author of the book Anjali Shah, also blogs at Picky Eater Blog. When I got to see Anjali’s message about the book review I simply loved the idea based on my experience and asked for it.
She was generous enough to send me the book asap. In this book, she aims to teach kids kitchen basics like how to chop, simple baking, how to cook on a stove her delicious recipes.
Kid Chef Junior welcomes with a beautiful, attractive, and colorful cover which is simple yet eye-catchy. Obviously, kids do not like complicated stuff.
Edible A B C D letters immediately gets attention from the kids as well as make adults curious enough, to open the book and explore what is inside.
A very well-organized Content starts with the note for Grownups and kids, followed by the recipes categorization like Breakfast, Meals, Snacks, and Desserts.
Inside The Book – Kid Chef Junior
In the note for GROWNUPS, tips are given to make this cooking experience more fuss-free, fun-filled and memorable.
I love the way she clearly shows a “STOP” symbol where kids will ask for help from parents.
Recipe names are simple and easy to understand which makes it easy for kids to decide what they want to cook.
Beautiful fonts are used to describe everything in the book and the use of mitten showing difficulty level makes it so cute.
Further introducing kitchen’s rule makes the kid understand the basic points in the kitchen.
Kitchen tools and gadgets are shown with symbols that are easy to associate with.
Each recipe clearly mentions the required tool, ingredients list, number of servings, and time to cook.
The most beautiful addition which I loved most is kids can make a note of the date they made the recipe, how it tasted, and who helped them while making. This feature makes the book kind of scrapbook that young chefs can keep and cherish later.
Kids will have little colorful and smiling doodles to welcome them in this book.
For any variation to the recipe, kids can make a note in the book itself.
With all colorfully written recipes and making notes for everything is surely a fun activity for junior chefs. A little note is given for any cooking term which is new.
Guacamole Recipe From Kid Chef Junior Book
Kid Chef Junior incorporated vegetables and fruits in most of the recipes. Cooking and eating healthy is another perspective of the book.
All in all, making any recipe is full of fun. My son loves guacamole so I went ahead and tried this recipe from the book.
There is no modification done in the recipe while trying.
In cutting small pieces I did help him rest he could do on his own. he loved the Guacamole which he made and relished.
Look at the grinning smile on his face. At the end of the book, a guide is provided for grownups with many useful pointers, all measurements with conversions are given.
Beautiful doodle frames surprise me even more, as I said earlier this book makes a fabulous scrapbook.
So have fun-filled cooking with this book, note down all points, make memories, get clicked, and fill it with snaps.
My VERDICT
I would highly recommend Kid Chef Junior book for all the kids. Not only it will help in learning some basic cooking or baking but will also help to note down their associated memories while cooking like a scrapbook.
