    Farali french fries or vrat ke french fries are crunchy, crispy, and deep-fried snacks to make on fasting days.

    Using rajgira flour makes it crunchy and a fasting recipe, but you can make it anytime even without fasting.

    My kids love these farali french fries and promised me to stop eating McD's french fries. Perfect tea-time snack and kids after school snack as well.

    Navratri fasting days are going on, we need some fun fasting recipes to break the monotony of making traditional vrat ka khana.

    Usually, in snacks, we make kuttu pakora(buckwheat fritters). Farali french fries is a humble attempt to please kids taste buds too.

    While you feed yourself during the day, kids also enjoy these with so much fun and laughter.

    Serve them with vrat ki chutney or tamarind chutney in normal days with tomato sauce.

    Ingredients

    Farali french fries just another tasty version of normal potato french fries. There are no fancy ingredients, everything is available in the kitchen easily.

    • Potatoes- Potatoes are very commonly eaten during fasting days. This recipe is just another variant to consume.
    • Rajgira or Amarnath flour- I used rajgira flour to make these french fries recipe. You can also use buckwheat flour.
    • Arrowroot powder- This works perfectly to bind potatoes and rajgira flour. Otherwise, this flour does not stick to potatoes sticks.
    • Spices- Green chilies are added to the recipe. Feel free to eliminate completely or adjust as per taste.
    • Other- Oil for deep frying, water to make a batter, salt as per taste & ginger

    How to make rajgira french fries

    Making these french fries at home is super easy. Just mix everything together and deep fry.

    To make this vrat ke french fries I sliced potatoes, made a thick batter with rajgira flour using grated ginger, green chili, and green coriander.

    Sliced potatoes mixed in the batter and deep-fried. Very easy recipe for vrat or upvas days which is filling and gluten-free.

    So let see how to make these farali french fries or vrat ke french fries.

    1. Prepare potatoes- First of all, peel and clean potatoes. Cut them in slices either using a knife or with french fries cutter.
    2. Make batter- In a mixing bowl add rajgira flour (aAmarnathflour), arrowroot powder, grated ginger, chopped chili, and green coriander. Mix well.
    3. Using water make a thick batter and adjust salt as per taste.Farali french fries or vrat ke french fries are crunchy, crispy, and deep fried snack to make on fasting days. Perfect to have with tea and kids after school snack as well.
    4. Deep fry- Add potato slices in the batter and mix well. Deep fry them till golden brown.
    5. Transfer them on a kitchen towel so that it can absorb extra oil.
    6. Serve hot- Farali french fries or vrat ke french fries are ready to serve with tea or anytime on your fasting day.

    • You can use kuttu or buckwheat flour to make this recipe.
    • These french fries can also be cooked in the oven or air fryer.
    • You can cut potatoes in round or cubes shape as well.

    Farali french fries are best served while hot. Serve with green coriander chutney or imli ki chutney.

    Storing suggestions

    French fries are best when served hot or at room temperature. You can keep in the fridge if required.

    Just microwave them for 1 minute and serve. Though they lack crunch & crisp.

    What does amaranth flour taste like?

    Amarnath or rajgira flour is not a grain, it is a seed actually. These seeds looks like quinoa, ground to make flour. This flour is used to making a variety of recipes.

    It has a nutty, chewy and earthy flavour.

      This is a totally new recipe for me Bhawana. Never thought of making french fries with rajgira flour. They turned out soo crispy and delicious. Will try for my kids sometime.
