Sweet Paratha (Cheeni Paratha)

Sweet paratha AKA Cheeni ka Paratha is a simple Indian sweet flatbread from North India that is enjoyed by everyone. One of the sweet memory of my childhood.

This sweet paratha is prepared with sugar, wholewheat flour, and adding cardamom is an extra advantage to make it aromatic.

Pural poli, Vedmi & Pol roti (coconut jaggery flatbread) are another varaition of making sweet paratha or roti with various ingredients.

Chini paratha is always the last option for kids who are picky eaters. In old days when Nutella spread was not there, this crispy yummy sweet paratha always satisfies the hunger of such kids.

In those days earthen stove was used, so just take a portion of the dough, flat it using both palms and place it on the griddle. In few seconds flip it on other sides and then cook it inside the earthen stove. The aroma of cardamom coming out of the stove was just heavenly. This is a great snack for kids, or for traveling.

Such a lovely rustic looking flatbread. Some flatbreads bring so much fond memories. My aunt use to make these sweet parathas with all yogurt sabji. She would use left over gulab jamun syrup to make the dough.

  2. This elaichi roti sounds like a delicious snack with a cup of coffee. I love cardamom flavour and I am really tempted to try this asap.
